THE ISSUES
Staging the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix racing event in Albert Park Reserve is wrong
– environmentally, financially, economically and ethically.

Motor racing does not belong in a park
Albert Park Reserve has been severely and adversely affected by the annual Grand Prix race. Permanent race infrastructure – the pit buildings and vehicle underpasses for example – has no place in a park. Park roads purpose-built or Formal 1 racing, have proved dangerous for normal traffic.
Park layout and landscaping are constrained by race requirements; large areas must be left treeless to accommodate Grand Prix infrastructure and track run-offs.
Many hundreds of mature trees were felled, and many more were damaged, to make way for the race track.
The annual installation and removal of temporary race infrastructure, followed by a renovation of damaged or destroyed grass surfaces, occupies over four months of Summer and Autumn. During most of this period, a large part of the Park is unavailable.
